About Me

Hi! My name is Cheyenne.

I’m a recent graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, where I majored in Multimedia Journalism and minored in American Sign Language and Computer Science.

I am a writer, editor and digital content manager with over five years of experience in writing features, news, and technical writing, and specializing in managing online written and visual content. I have a strong background in web-based design and development and I am enthusiastic to expand my abilities and turn my passion into a career!

I’ve worked for and contributed to various online media platforms, including managing the Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest, and Facebook for Austin-based social news network “Social NN,” posting about news, entertainment, and sports. I also helped start a Twitter and Instagram campaign for UT’s African and African Diaspora Studies to recruit students to the program. In addition to publishing content here, I’m also a frequent contributor to Black Girl Nerds and btchflicks, two online media sites that serve minority communities. In my spare time, I also take photos and make videos and graphics for my own articles and my contributions to other websites.

In 2012, I interned with the digital development team for President Obama’s re-election campaign where I integrated online and offline organizing using web-based tools to connect supporters to the campaign, as well as built donation pages to raise campaign contributions and assisted with various tasks on the digital development team. I have an extensive skill set that spans from creative development to social media optimization. I’ve learned how to efficiently create and edit web-based content and I see the internet as an incredible tool to make information more universally shareable, understandable, and accessible.

I spend most of my free time on the internet or hanging out with friends. I love Harry Potter, bad soap operas, stupid puns, ice cream, Beyonce, Super Smash Brothers games, and a lot of other random things.

I write a lot better than I speak and you can read my ramblings on random topics on this blog, whenever I get around to posting on it. You can go here for my thoughts in blog form, here for my thoughts in 140 characters or less, or you can email me if you want to know more!
